![]() Many of the places a paranormal investigator visits has a historic tie to it. The picture on this blog entry shows me looking up at the memorial of one of the bloodiest skirmishes that took place during the Blackhawk War in Kellogg's Grove located outside of Freeport Illinois. Soldiers from the Illinois militia died here in 1832. Along with many Indian fighters in Chief Blackhawk's band. Many investigators consider the history of an area when they are looking for answers for a client or themselves. Many investigators are also only considering the history 100 years back. I myself have made this mistake time and time again. 1832 was 180 years ago. A heck of a lot of things can happen in those years that I didn't think about before 1900. History and notes often times were not as clearly kept as they are now. My point of my blog tonight is that I had taken part in an EVP session that I had responses on. I could not understand the responses because I believe they were made in the native language of the Indians that lived in this area over 200 years ago. History is all around us, and it is my belief that preserving it, and learning from it, will keep us from reliving the worst parts of it.
