Faith and Miracles

It is December 26th and Christmas has been over for about 2 hours as of my entry tonight.  I don't often talk about my faith in our Lord, nor do I ever try to push my beliefs onto others.  I just wanted to share the fact that I experienced a miracle for Christmas this year.  My father went to the hospital on Saturday the 22nd of December around 7 p.m.  He was diagnosed with Pulmonary Edema.  Now, I can tell you all from my years as a Paramedic.....this is a very serious situation.  I myself have treated many people on the ambulance with Pulmonary Edema....and the outcome is seldom pleasant.  The survival rate is about 2 in 10......if you catch it early enough and everything goes just right.  This was the case for my father.  Everything went just right, and he was able to come home 2 days later on Christmas Eve and spend the holiday with his family and grandchildren that were missing him terribly.  Some would say, "Dan......it is just modern medicine that saved your Dad."  That would be a true statement.....but, when I saw him the next morning after making it to the hospital, and again 24 hours later.......I can tell you that miracles do happen.  Understand that I am not going to tell you exactly what the miracle I experienced was.......but I am a better person for it.  My father surviving a very serious medical illness that ends life for many people....was only one of the miracles I witnessed over Christmas.  The key word in Christmas is Christ......and according to my faith......it was Christ that was holding my father's hand on that night, and it is by our Lord's healing hands that my father is still here.  He has survived 1 heart attack, 2 strokes, and now this........one other miracle that I will mention......If I had not been a paramedic years back when I witnessed my father have his heart attack.......he wouldn't have been here after that day.  Is it all just a simple twist of luck and fate?  I don't think so.......but that's just me.  Have a Happy Holiday season everybody that reads this.......and whether you believe or not......be thankful for the people you have while you have them......I am, and I was able to sit and enjoy the holiday with my father and my family because of God's Grace.  I thank God for it.  Take care everyone.
